Glossary of terms commonly used in the context of a manufacturer’s Digital Enterprise vision

Value Chain is formed by a collection of aligned companies profiting to fulfill the desired outcome for a customer. It is akin to Supply Chain but with the idea that each participant in the chain adds business value to the product being created/ delivered. It can include contract designers, part manufacturers, production line builders, sub‐component suppliers, and OEM/final assemblers, as well as aftermarket service providers.
价值链:由一系列关联通过满足客户期望的结果而实现盈利的企业形成。价值链与供应链的概念相似,但价值链强调每个成员都能为创造或交付的产品增加商业价值。价值链的成员可以包括设计承包商、部件制造商、生产线建造商、元器件供应商、整机制造和装配企业,以及售后服务提供商。

Digital Information includes electronic information both inside and outside of a company's control, conveyed via the Internet by smart mobile devices, social media, factory networks and smart products.

Digital Business is business created and conducted using digital assets/ capabilities/ information about products, services and customer experiences, conducted through digital channels and communities. Digital business is the creation of new business designs brought about by blurring the digital and physical worlds. It promises to usher in an unprecedented convergence of people, business and things that disrupts existing business models — even those born of the Internet, e‐business and digital marketing eras.
数字化业务:通过创建和传输描述产品、服务或客户体验的数字化资产、能力或信息,并通过数字化渠道和社区来开展的业务活动。数字化业务是数字世界和实体世界融合而成的全新业务模式。它将打破所有现存的,包括互联网、电子商务和数字化营销时代产生的业务模式, 实现前所未有的人、业务与物体的融合。

Digitalization (industrial sector context) is the use of digital information about products, processes and production to predict operational outcomes and to realize innovation. It leverages the intelligence of a digital product or production model to create twins between the physical and digital worlds, weaving a digital thread through product and production lifecycles. This digital thread is used as a proactive agent to drive new business opportunities. Digitalization is both a macro trend that is happening to companies, but is also something that companies can drive as an assertive direction. Digitalization transforms business models and creations new business opportunities by fully leveraging digital/digitized assets.
数字化:(工业领域范畴)是以预测运营效果和实现创新为目的,利用产品、流程和生产过程的数字化信息的行为。数字化技术利用数字化产品或生产模式的智能创建实体和虚拟世界的映射, 并将一条数字主线植入产品和生产的生命周期之中。数字主线可以主动地驱动企业赢得新的商业机会。数字化技术既是发生在每个公司身上的一种大趋势,同时也为公司发展指明了方向。通过充分利用数字化资产,数字化技术将转变商业模式带来新的商业机会。

Digital Twin is a smart, virtual representation (model) of the physical product, production process or product’s utilization. It has the required accuracy and fidelity to predict actual, physical performance.
数字孪生模型

Digital Thread intelligently connects smart virtual models (digital twins) and real‐time production information across lifecycle phases of ideation, realization and utilization, and across value chain participants, to form a smart innovation environment. The digital thread makes a Digital Enterprise possible.

Digital Enterprise is a manufacturer’s own vision for making full use of digitalization to ensure business model viability and value chain leadership. It unifies product knowledge with manufacturing and service process innovation. The digital enterprise spans a company’s operations, from ideation to realization through utilization. Some refer to this as Digital Business (see separate definition).
数字化企业:是制造企业的一种自我发展的愿景,希望充分利用数字技术确保商业模式的成功和价值链中的领导力。数字企业将产品知识与制造和服务流程创新统一起来。从概念构建到生产阶段再到产品使用阶段,数字化企业贯穿着整个企业的运营。有时也叫数字化业务(参见相关定义)。

Smart Innovation Portfolio comprises the Siemens software, solutions and expertise that answer the challenge manufacturers face in realizing their Digital Enterprise vision. It is an adaptive IT portfolio linking intelligent product and production models, enabling ecosystems of engaged users to realize innovative, smart products. It represents the IT foundation of a company’s Digital Enterprise vision. It is akin to some analysts’ view of the Product Innovation Platform model for IT. The four characteristics of a Smart Innovation Portfolio are: adaptive system; intelligent models, realized products and engaged users.
智能创新组合:

Engaged User: Enables more people to digitally participate in business value creation by delivering the right information to the right people at the right time and by filtering and transforming information so that it makes sense to each person in their role. It represents an IT environment that is simple and compelling, meeting the unique needs of each different role in the product’s value chain.

Intelligent Models: Accurately reflect real products, their manufacturing processes and usage conditions. Intelligent models allow the understanding information intersections to help customers simulate, validate and innovate solutions across the product lifecycle and value chain.

Realized Products: Integration of the virtual product definition and production environments. Closes the loop between product and production to optimize delivery and support so that innovations become real.

Adaptive System: An open foundation that can evolve with new application delivery models and core technology advancements. This ensures a long‐term return on the customer’s solution investment. It helps customers efficiently deploy solutions today, while maintaining future flexibility and support the customer’s platform of choice.
适应性系统:
一个依靠新应用交付模式和核心技术进步不断演进的开放基础平台。适应性系统确保用户的解决方案投资能获得长期回报。它帮助用户高效部署解决方案,同时具备灵活性,能够支持客户所选的不同平台。

Smart Products: Smart products have embedded intelligence that allow them to sense and learn independently and, in certain ways, exceed human capabilities. This intelligence is primarily perceptual across classes of content (such as images, shapes, motion). Smart products find patterns in such data and extrapolate generalizations from those patterns, creating digital intelligence from digital information. They leverage Internet connectivity to collect, process and convey intelligence and, in some cases, initiate actions. Smart products may have some cognitive capability but generally today are not able to reason, demonstrate common sense or figure out new ways of doing things.

智能产品:智能产品通过内嵌智能元件能独立进行感知和学习,在某些方面,甚至超过了人类的能力。智能产品的智能主要表现在能够感知不同类别的内容(包括图像、形状和动作)。智能产品能发现这些数据中的规律,并从这些模式中推断出普遍性,从而将数字化信息转为数字化的智能。他们利用网络的连通性收集、处理、传输这些智能信息,某些情况下甚至能发起行动。智能产品具备一些认知力,但目前总体而言还不具备推断和显示常识的能力,也不会想出解决问题的新办法。
