Supply chain management is the combination of the process and information technology that integrates the suppliers of raw materials or components, the manufacturers or assemblers of the finished products, and distributors of the products or services into one cohesive process to include demand forecasting, materials requisition, order processing, order fulfillment, transportation services, receiving, invoicing, and payment processing.
供应链管理是对涵盖原料、零件、制造商和装配企业、分销商或服务商等供应链中企业的业务过程和信息的集成。业务过程包括需求分析，订单处理、订单确认、运输、接收、合同和结算等。

Enterprise Resource Planning or ERP is a broad set of activities for improving the performance of internal business processes. ERP is supported by multi-module application software that integrates activities across functional departments, from product planning, parts purchasing, inventory control, product distribution, to order tracking. ERP can also include application modules for the finance and human resources aspects of a business.
ERP包含提高企业内部过程效益的一系列活动。一般ERP是由多个应用系统模块组成，能够将生产计划、采购、成本管理、销售、合同管理等多个职能部门的业务流程统一起来。ERP也包括财务和人力资源方面的模块。
ERP vs. SCM
Both ERP and SCM systems are intended to re-engineer internal business processes to achieve better resource planning and coordination across departments. SCM usually refers to the redesign of supply chain processes in order to achieve streamlining. It is generally performed only by large corporations with large suppliers. B2B exchange can extend Supply Chain Management to all trading partners regardless of size by providing a central location to integrate information from all supply chain participants.
ERP和SCM系统都是为了重建企业内部流程，使企业各个部门之间的资源优化配置。SCM偏向于重新设计供应链过程以保证平顺性。通常仅在拥有大量供应商的大公司实施。B2B通过一个“信息中心”，能够将SCM延伸到供应链中的所有业务伙伴的信息进行集成，不管企业大小。
Since SCM systems feed information to ERP and use information from ERP, it's common for organizations install ERP before implementation of SCM for large organizations who have budget for this. Implementation of ERP, however, is not required for the successful installation of SCM systems. SCM systems can interact with legacy systems through interface software or middleware. The cost of integrating SCM systems with legacy systems is much higher than integration with ERP systems. New generation of ERP and SCM generally share the same technical architecture and support API which can ease the system integration.
尽管SCM系统使用来自ERP的信息，并且为ERP提供信息资源，通常一个企业会根据需要先实现ERP。ERP的实现不需要SCM作为前提。SCM系统能够通过接口或中间件与遗留系统交互。SCM与遗留系统集成的费用要远远低于与ERP系统集成的费用。新一代的SCM和ERP通常采用相同的技术架构，并且支持系统集成的API。
