Snoopy began his life in the strip as a fairly ordinary dog, but
eventually evolved into,perhaps the strip's most dynamic 4 character and among the most recognizable comic characters in the world. On October 4, 1950, Snoopy walked with four legs like any other dog in his first appearance and was a silent character for the first two years. However, since 1960, Snoopy has been standing on two legs and thinking independently. And in Snoopy's little head, he is everything but a dog.
Charlie once told Snoopy, "Look, Snoopy, that boy throws a branch, then his dog will run to bring the branch back." Without a word, Snoopy picked up a branch, threw it and then looked at Charlie.
At another time, Charlie read his newspaper to Snoopy, "It says that there will be a dog-show. Will you think about it?" Snoopy thought, "How can I? I don't even have a dog!"
